Jessica Spam!

Hey, what a terrific comment by “Url Hiding!” It’s so great! I found similar ones everywhere! :) Here’s the version left at my blog:

“Protect Url” left a similar content, but plans to return on Sunday. Gosh, I hope he uses an Alexa toolbar, I need the Alexa boost!

Did URL promise to visit others?

After getting the honest comment trying to sell me comment spam software, I thought “Hhmmm… this looks suspicious.” Do, I Googled. Here’s what I found at Venture beat:

When she’s not spamming, Jessica has promised to visit Dark Mirage, Cannon Fodder and several other blogs. So far, URL Hiding and Protect URL seem to have visited only me!

Akismet is catching these, but if one gets through to your blog, you may need more spam protection.

I’m suspicious of any new commenter that starts by stroking your ego. If it’s from somebody who has been around awhile, it might be genuine, but when strangers are telling you how great you are that’s a major red flag.

Oh you bet! Normal people don’t just post a suck up comment.

Lol, just gotta love the little spammers ;). It would indeed be nice yeh if they would have Alexa toolbar installed, you would at least still get something out of them then. But I have my doubts that’d be the case ;).

Jessica’s got a lot of friends who write exactly, almost word-for-word, the way she does! (Adam, for example, is heavily into all things Wedding…)

What gives me a chuckle is that there seems to be a hiccup in the spammer’s software: when cleverly doing the “Insert Post Title Here” thing, it always cuts off half of the first word of the title. No problem spotting those comments as Blatant Luncheon Meat.

Or the prolific Daniel, who can’t seem to understand any of the “Insert Post Title Here” items he’s finding on my blog. What’s so hard to understand about a recipe for Cinnamon Cookies, that he should have to do more research?!?

I’m thoroughly enjoying your whole spammer series of posts, Lucia… great fun to laugh and point fingers like this!

Maybe Daniel doesn’t understand how to set the temperature on the oven? He truly has troubles understanding things! :)

Yes, I often wonder if Daniel has the intellectual capacity to be allowed on the internet. Heaven knows what kind of trouble he could get himself into… :D

Lol I’m new to this and I actually fell for the first ‘daniel spam’ on one of my other blogs. I replied to him in the comments asking what he found hard to understand and the funny thing was that about a week later he posted again saying “oh nothing specific” or something to that effect!

It was only when I launched my new blog and started getting loads more of the same that I realised it was spam. Jessica hasn’t stopped by yet :-)
