John Chow Banned from Google
Evidently, John Chow has been banned by Google. Not only has he lost “make money online”, but he has also lost rank for “John Chow” and “JohnChow.com”. His fans may continue to follow his advice, but I ask you: Can you afford to be banned by Google, Technorati and Digg? In his June 28 blog post1 John says: I am 100% positive that Google will eventually restore my number one ranking for my name. I guess we’ll all have to wait and see what happens.
1. My inconspicuous link to JohnChow.com will automatically nofollow in 10 days, because blacklisted JohnChow.com using the “NoOldSpamLinks” plugin. Does that make me evil?

My question may seem silly but I was wondering what do you mean by ” John Chow has been banned by Google”. Does that mean that his site will not show up at all as a result of a search on Google or does that simply mean that his page rank has dropped?
I mean searches on for his pages don’t show up anywhere near where they used to show up. I have no idea if they won’t show up at all– maybe if you look through page after page after page on a search for johnchow.com, he will show up. But, he used to show up for that, and actually, he is the most relevant result for his own domain name.
I don’t know what’s happened to his page rank.
Strangely enough, I often find his page won’t load on firefox for the mac and it crashes my browser. I don’t know why– but as a result I have to switch browsers! I can’t check his page rank with my other browsers, so someone else will need to tell me if his rank is lost.
Meanwhile, it’s probably best to avoid linking him or having him link you. It looks like Google considers him the epicenter of a bad neighborhood.
I wonder how Google manages to do that… I used the BlogFlux page rank checker to check his page rank, it was 4 earlier this morning.
His page rank shows 6 with the alexa bar. But that’s only updated about 4 times a year and we are all expecting an update sometime in July or August.
We’ll all just have to wait and see what happens to the page rank. Meanwhile, I wouldn’t do a link exchange hoping for a boost by getting a link from his site!
